just another dumping ground for codes that may serve a purpose on the forums Wink

so for a little something to start off with...
how bout an auto-updating preview area: Smile
http://tcll5850.hostoi.com/preview.htm (supports HTML in the text area)
^ this works with anything that supports "innerHTML",
and obviously works for IE8. XDD

if you like my works, feel free to implament them XD

heh thanx :3

unfortunatly none of my codes will be in HTML5.
I prefer IE8 as my base Smile

what's the point of HTML5 anyways??
I'm sure it can be simulated in IE8 Razz

I like HTML5 alot, but I hate IE8 because it needs so much different code. Yes, HTML5 can be simulated on IE8, but it is a JS library, and I usually don't use libraries (not even jQuery).

jQuery's fun XD
though yea, I don't use it anywhere but my forum Smile

an HTML5 library sounds neat though =D

as for the different code thing, I personally don't mind it... heh
it's just like GL vs GL-ES in a way...

thing about IE8 is internet security.
out of what I've used:
IE8 > FF > IE9 > Chrome

FF is super slow though,
and I only use it for monkey-written pages that fail to support IE8

if anything though, you should try to support Nintendo's Opera-Wii browser.
(if you want a good web page) XD

EDIT:
I won't say IE8 blocks everything,
but it sure as HECK does a good job at blocking what FF can't.
IE9 can be set the exact same as IE8,
but it lies to you and allows the bad stuff through in most cases...

Chrome... I doubt Google monkeys know a thing about internet security. >_<
this may have happened more than 6 years ago,
but I'm never getting chrome again because of it.
prior to installation, security settings at max, my compy didn't even last a week...
it died with a max of 6 trojans, and about 850 other minor viruses.

funny thing is, that was all from google searches for games and ROMs
(I was more interested in MUGEN and Blender at the time)

lets just say... it's speed comes from it's lack of security.
I havn't used a newer version since that last version killed my compy many years back...
I hear they actually have security now, but I don't feel like infecting my compy to test it... heh

on a side note, I've found a browser that's better than IE8 in terms of security Smile
I now use Opera 12 as Opera 17 has given me page loading issues even though security checks were disabled for that page.
(it would freeze in loading the page)

Opera seems to follow the same standards of allowing everything at first, and then allowing you to block certain pages...

@Opera-devs: hey monkeys, how are we supposed to know what pages will infect us?

and that's why I block the net and only allow certain pages to load.

unfortunately, O12 doesn't seem to support site-hosts, meaning you have to reset for every sub-host of the site. >_<

but in any case, it's fast like IE8, but also supports HTML5 (I think)
(O17 supports HTML5, I'm not sure about O12)

IE9 lies to you and allows what's supposed to be getting blocked.
FF is slow and also lacks in security, but at least has some... (you can't block sites)
IE10+ don't trust it because of IE9

Now I need IE8 for testing my websites, but how do I downgrade my IE10 to IE8 on Win7?

I don't think that's possible... heh

you can try completely removing IE from your compy, then installing IE8.

but if that doesn't work,
I can send you a copy of mine as a "Program Files (x86)" installation Smile
you'll have to create the shortcuts though... XP

let me know if you need any info Wink

I've got a win7 compy to play around with for the moment :3
so I can try this myself Wink
though I intend to downgrade it to XP Black x64 once I find an ISO that's not broken... heh
(otherwise I'll have to stick with XP Pro x64 and try to integrate the win7 upgrades from Black)

I only use it to test my localhost websites so I think there is not much need for security.

Anyway, when I went to sleep the computer restarted and had IE9 installed again >_>
