[Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
HexEdit is a professional hex editor with template support written by Andrew.
NOTICE: this program is only free by trial before it annoys you with a popup dialog.
my patch removes the dialog, but this is ONLY for users who can't afford the payment.
If you CAN afford this program, please be curtious and show Andrew some respect by making the payment.
to use:
- download and run the Installer (this is an unofficial backup of the original installer)
- copy the patch to the installation directory (replace the original exe)
- enjoy

No, it is detecting it is a file that has been rarely downloaded. Just ignore it.

Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
I can garuntee it's not a virus, or anything bad. XD
all I did was change the popup's ID so it'd malfunction when trying to display the popup and just continue with the program.
it works perfectly
here's a screen-shot I just took a few hours ago:
I get no nagging 2-minute popup as I changed the ID of the window.
so there's proof it works

Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
lolwut XDD
it's marking the installer as a virus XDD
I have it in my DropBox folder, and it works perfectly
I mean... I just re-ran it as I remade the new patch.
if you don't trust it, you can DL the installer from http://hexeditpro.com
this installer is just a backup of that installer so that when he updates, the patch will still remain valid.
to add, I don't use virus software as most will attempt to infect you to try to get you to buy their crappy software.
I just stick with the scanner MalWareBytes while blocking the web with Opera 12,
and running MWB after each installation that includes adware.
to add, I wouldn't post infected content.
1: it's a good way to get kicked from a forum
2: I'm a white-hat hacker... meaning I do free the right way.
Andrew (the developer) needs to make a living off his great program.
that's why the popup dialog is there, and why I warn to buy it if you can afford it.
I'm a low-life who lives with his mother and is on SSI ($600 a month)
for me to afford his program would be for mother to give up gas for food.
(I can't get a job, which is why I applied for SSI)
and the gov't still won't even spit in our direction...
(I almost lost my SSI recently)
so this patch of mine is meant for people like me.
this program is not a scam in any way.
heck... to add
I collect Keygens as a hobby... (I like their music)
MWB tried to report 3 of them as trojans, which I knew they weren't.
do you need any more assurance that this program is not infected??

Well if you can convince my father then no. Hes not trusting this >.>
Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
I see...
in that case I have nothing more to say.
by chance... what exactly is the "threat" reported in the img??
perhapse it's just freaking out over it being recently added and not downloaded.
actually... feel free to hold me responsible for anything that happens to your compy
after all... I did reccomend the program as the best free hex editor with template support AND wrote the patch for it... heh
I've tested it on multiple compys (just got a win7 laptop which I just installed it on and tested my current templates with)
I'll be posting my templates soon...
been working on fixing the highlighted areas and correcting alot of the terms... heh
(by "soon" I mean when I finish, which could be a while at the most)
EDIT:
if you want to play it safe, create a restore point before installing...
if anything happens during or after installation, just restore it to that point.
if anything does happen, please report it.
I want to make sure there's nothing that can harm any computer
in that case I have nothing more to say.

Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
Alright So This Is Symatec aka Norton info:
Updated:February 15, 2012 3:15:47 PMType:OtherRisk Impact:HighSystems Affected:Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000
Behavior
WS.Reputation.1 is a detection for files that have a low reputation score based on analyzing data from Symantec’s community of users and therefore are likely to be security risks. Detections of this type are based on Symantec’s reputation-based security technology. Because this detection is based on a reputation score, it does not represent a specific class of threat like adware or spyware, but instead applies to all threat categories.
The reputation-based system uses "the wisdom of crowds" (Symantec’s tens of millions of end users) connected to cloud-based intelligence to compute a reputation score for an application, and in the process identify malicious software in an entirely new way beyond traditional signatures and behavior-based detection techniques.

Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
ROFL yep
of course Norton doesn't know what my file is XDD
it's a freakin DropBox file that was only uploaded a few weeks back XD
of course it isn't a common file because nobody knows of it yet
(I'm trying to get it added to the kc-mm resources section to replace the fake HexEdit editor on there)
if you want better results, download the copy from http://hexeditpro.com
that one's still the same installer as this (he hasn't updated in forever, and still has yet to)
Norton == Security noobs XD
at least they're better than AVG... heh
if you want REALLY good protection, go for Avast
and as a backup, keep MWB on your system and run it weekly (if using a bad browser)
Chrome < IE9 < FF < IE8 < Opera
I havn't tried anything above IE9 as I don't trust them after finding out IE9's protection is pretty much fake.
and I havn't tried Safari yet >_>
also, while I do rate Opera as the best browser for Internet protection, you do have to set it up first to actually protect you, like IE8 (as 2nd best)
and I also recommend you install the Ad Block Plus extension for it.
lastly, use commen sense when you set cookies to notify you when a website wants to use them.
make sure you're only enabling the cookies for the site, and not 3rd-party malicious cookies.
I'm very skeptical about viruses and don't want people to deal with what I've delt with.
(I remove viruses by hand, so you can trust I know what I'm talking about when I recommend good quality software)

If you are worried about the security you could download some Linux and run fast browsers like Chromium on it.

Re: [Software] HexEdit Pro 4.0 (Patched)
that's true...
it's just that there wasn't a resources in the SSBB category at the time,
and I'd be more comfortable since I work on Brawl templates.
(though I try to make those templates work for other games as well)
also, wouldn't we be better off livening up the SSBB section as well??
however, even better would be to just have 1 resource section while labeling the resources if only limited to that game.
(I don't think the labels would be needed though as the programs do that already)
